Shri Satyanarayana Vrat Return Puja Vidhi

Anyone can fast on a full moon day. You can do it either in the morning or in the evening. The observer has to fast until the puja is completed smoothly.

  • The puja begins with a prayer to Lord Ganesha. Then the worship of Lord Vishnu begins. A special bhog made of yogurt, sugar and honey called ‘Panchamrit’ is prepare and poured over the image of Lord Vishnu.
  • Then the devotees chant “Satyanarayan” 1008 times after which a special Yagya is perform. In this ritual, fruits and flowers are put into the fire as offerings. The priest then reads the Satyanarayana Katha and everyone pays full attention.
  • This is follow by aarti which can be attend by all family members or friends. Lighting an oil lamp is a key part of the aarti as it is believe to spread positive energy in the house. Finally, after performing all the necessary rituals, the auspicious Prasad is distribut among the devotees.
